Oak Clinic: Committed to a Singular Vision

Since its opening in 2000, Oak Clinic for Multiple Sclerosis has been a unique gift to northeast Ohio from individuals with a special interest in advancing care for people with MS. Their singular vision is to treat and empower individuals and families living with multiple sclerosis, regardless of ability to pay.

“This is the way medicine is supposed to be practiced,” Dr. Timothy Carrabine told The Suburbanite. “We don't get a lot of calls at night because we are so thorough. We go over the diagnosis and what we know of it as an autoimmune disease. We cover how that becomes a disease of the central nervous system. We go over their MRIs. We go over medications and help them to slow down the disease. We treat symptoms. We also treat their depression. We have a licensed social worker come in and run a support group. It fulfills people's needs and it fulfills our needs, too.  We are here to help. It is nice to provide specialty care like MS. We can provide better care because this is all we do.” (to reach the full feature article, click here)

Oak Clinic remains an unparalleled resource for those men and women, and their families, who live with the physical, emotional and financial toll of managing this unpredictable disease.

Oak Clinic focuses on treating the whole patient for this lifelong disease. Staff provide medical care, nursing, physical and occupational therapy, social services, education, rehabilitation and opportunities for social enrichment.

In celebrating ten years' of service to Northeast Ohio, Oak Clinic is proud to note it ...

  • cares for more than 3,000 patients from 15 Ohio counties and neighboring states, Indiana and Pennsylvania

  • remains the only charitable MS health care clinic in Summit County

  • conducts clinical research with leading pharmaceutical companies to develop new disease modifying medications

  • continues its affiliation with researchers at Kent State University in efforts to identify causes of MS

Today, Oak Clinic for Multiple Sclerosis ranks among the best independent, not-for-profit specialty clinics in the United States. The commitment to that original singular vision continues.
