Research

Multiple sclerosis continues to be one of the most-researched diseases in the United States. Decades of study sponsored by the National Institute for Neurological Disease and Stroke, as well as the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, have done much to advance our understanding of the mysteries of MS.

Despite this, much work needs to be done.

Drs. Ernest Freeman and Jennifer McDonough lead a team of scientists and graduate
student assistants conducting both clinical and basic (or laboratory) research. Currently,
the team is engaged in identifying genes related to the loss of neurons in MS;

Both clinical and basic research at Oak Clinic is directed by Dr. Chris Sheppard.

All research is conducted within the context of the Clinic’s holistic approach to our clients. The confidentiality, dignity and trust of each individual involved in a research project are strictly maintained.
